THE POOL AT THE ORIENTAL BANGKOK

BANGKOK – Excellent service and NONE of that colonial attitude one gets at its so over rated sister motel in Hong Kong or at other so called ‘top’ establishments in Bangkok make this one of our favorite hotels in Bangkok.  Whether you’re checking-in; tanning by the pool; boozing at their Bamboo Bar; getting done at the spa; or being driven to the airport (hotel guests get priority check-in privileges at Thai Airways), the Oriental takes super great care of you (why can’t other hotels do this?).  My fave Oriental to-do is lounging at the pool during the week when most of the guests, usually business people, are out doing business-y things.  It’s quiet and you’ll have the pool almost to yourself.  Located at 48 Oriental Avenue, Bangkok, Tel: +66 (2) 659 9000.  www.mandarinoriental.com/bangkok.  (Photo:  Oriental Bangkok)
