THE JIM THOMPSON HOUSE

BANGKOK – Yeah I know, BIG time tourist spot but for me, the Jim Thompson House is totally NOT about the famous JT silk; but rather a first-rate example of traditional Thai-style architecture, something not easily found on the streets of Bangkok.  Take the guided tour, which is fairly short but full of fun, interesting facts – e.g., the JT house was actually built elsewhere and then transported, piece by piece, to Bangkok where it was then re-assembled at its present locale (yep, pre-fab style); and that old JT himself just up and disappeared one day, without a trace, never to be heard from again.  If you want to glimpse this architectural gem and learn more about the legendary JT, his house can be found opposite the National Stadium, 6 Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Bangkok.  Tel: +66 (2) 216 7368.  www.jim-thompson.com
